In February of 1993, Bishop Calvin Scott stepped out on faith to start Believers Temple Word Fellowship (BTWF) with 8 members in a storefront church located at 6249 Natural Bridge.
With unfailing faith and favor from God, he purchased an existing building at 2115 Chambers in April of 1996 and conducted 3 worship services until November of 2005, at which time the BTWF Youth Ministry occupied the building. During this time Bishop Scott began a television and radio ministry called “Fresh Start” on local network and radio stations. As the news permeated throughout households about this dynamic preacher and services were filled to capacity, his spirit gave birth to a more challenging vision - a multi-purpose Family Life Center. The BTWF Family Life Center opened in November of 2005 and is utilized as a daycare, pre-school, school and worship facility which seats approximately 1000 total patrons each Sunday.
The Lord showed His favor again in July of 2006 and allowed Bishop Scott to purchase a 2.7 acre parcel of land adjacent to the facility. Currently this land is being developed to facilitate additional parking. Future expansion plans for the BTWF ministry include a new church with a 3000 sanctuary seating capacity.
